Patient Information

New Gynaecology Appointments

Appointments for new gynaecology patients require a referral to be faxed to our practice by your GP or yourself prior to getting an appointment. Our doctors triage the referrals according to urgency. After the referral has been triaged we will contact you to arrange an appointment.

New Pregnancy Appointments

New pregnancy appointments can be made prior to gaining referrals. In most cases your first appointment should be made for around 8-10 weeks into your pregnancy. If you have any queries or concerns prior to your first appointment please contact our rooms.

New Gynaecologic Oncology Appointments

Due to the nature of their work, for new appointments with our Gynaecologic Oncologists we require a referral to be faxed to our rooms which will be triaged prior to making an appointment. If you are being referred by a specialist they are able to call and arrange an appointment for you if necessary.

New Patient Forms

You will find a copy of our new patient forms under each doctor in the staff section of our website. If you are able to print these forms and fill them out it will save you some time on the day of your appointment. Alternatively when we are making you an appointment we will happily email or post you a copy which you can send back to us prior to your appointment or bring with you on the day as well.

Appointment Fees

Please contact us to discuss the fees of your upcoming appointment.

For our gynaecology patients we are able to give you a rough estimate of your consult fee and Medicare rebate but please note that it does not include fees for any procedures or other item numbers that are used on the day of your appointment, which of course are sometimes impossible to predict!

If you are required to book a procedure through Hobart Private Hospital we are able to organise an estimated out of pocket quote (if any) for the procedure based on your private health cover, your selected doctor etc.

For our obstetric patients we can supply you with a copy of your obstetricians fee structure for your pregnancy prior to or at your first appointment. This will outline the cost of your regular visits, the cost of the planning & management fee (item number 16590) and information on the fees for your delivery* (if any).

*Our obstetricians provide a ‘No Gap’ arrangement with private health funds for the birth of your baby if of course your policy covers you for obstetrics and you have served all relevant waiting periods. To ensure you do not incur any unexpected costs we advise checking that you are not with a health fund that pays significantly less for delivery as we may need to issue you with an invoice after your delivery if this is the case. Item numbers to check with your health fund are (16519 & 16522). Please contact us if you have any concerns about your cover.

If you do not have private health insurance or Medicare please discuss this with our reception team who will happily organise quotes and inform you of your estimated out of pocket expenses.

Referrals

All patients need a valid referral to see our specialists. Without a valid referral Medicare will not give you a rebate on your consultation fee. You are able to obtain a referral from your GP which lasts 12 months or if you are referred by a specialist these referrals last you 3 months only. If you are unsure if your referral is still valid please phone our rooms prior to your appointment to avoid missing out on your Medicare rebate.
